A Nook Puzzle featuring a vintage comic book super-heroine, and an illustrated background essay about her rise, fall, and rise again (about 4600 words; 31 photos)
I must admit that I had never heard of Miss Masque. the comic book brands you mention in today's post were also ones I do not remember from the days of my youth. Be that as it may, there are many eye-openers in your posting today. I personally found it especially of interest about the companies, the artists, and the innovative whimsy pieces. If you review any more puzzles that feature comic book characters, i will be hoping for Scrooge McDuck.
Thanks, Greg. As far as I know, Nook Puzzles is the only wood puzzle company that makes ones with comic book images, and they only use only public domain ones. Disney probably still has clear claim to Scrooge McDuck, and they do license their trademarked characters to cardboard puzzle companies. But I can’t recall ever seeing a Disney character on any wood puzzle except some vintage ones.
Nook Puzzles does have some comic boot covers that I think are more to your, and my, taste. Check out this WWII vintage one from Animal Puzzles about a Victory Garden that I’m thinking of ordering: https://nookpuzzles.com/products/animal-comics-4 !
But I do agree with you that an image of Scrooge McDuck rolling around in his money would make a great wood puzzle. And inspire Michelle to design some great whimsies.
Thanks. Bill. My comment about Scrooge McDuck was just wishful thinking. I realize your essay hadn't especially made me think such a wood puzzle was available. I know you used to do excellent marquetry; perhaps you could make us one. from carefully fitted pieces of veneers.

P.S. The Animal Comics puzzle at the link you posted in reply to me looks very appealing.
